12th November

It is now a month since the SGM, and no new names have been put forward.  The Committee will have no option but to produce a plan to close the East Warwickshire Centre, due to lack of a new Committee for 2019 if this situation continues.  The next Committee Meeting is on 3rd December, and it would be good if we had names by then so that more drastic plans can be averted.

9th October

At the SGM held on 6th October, it was decided to continue to move forward with the existing Committee until the AGM, which will be held at Bretford Village Hall at 12 noon on Sunday 27th January 2019.

Members are now invited to send in Nominations for Committee positions to the Secretary ( to arrive no later than 2 weeks prior to the revised AGM.  All the previous rules of membership qualification will apply.

In the mean time, we are continuing to prepare a Rally Programme for 2019 in the hope that we can continue as a Centre.  Please look at the current list, and contact the Rally Secretary if you are able to take on a Rally.

23rd September

Due to the lack of Nominations for Committee (2) the current Committee has been forced to postpone the Centre AGM until January.

On 6th October, at 11.00 AM, a Special General Meeting will be held to present the details of the current situation, the consequences of failing to obtain sufficient nominations to form a Committee for 2019, and discuss the way forward for the Centre.

All Full, Joint and Family members of the East Warwickshire Centre are invited to attend and join in the discussions.

1st August

The Centre Secretary has been asked by the Chairman and Committee to send out a letter to all registered Centre Members, setting out the current status of the Centre.  Unfortunately without additional support at Rally Officer and Committee level, the future of the Centre is now in doubt.

Members are encouraged to contact the Secretary if they are able to help in any way to save our Centre.  The Caravan and Motorhome Club HQ have been appraised of the situation, and are providing support to the Centre Committee.

16th July

A notification has been sent to ALL Centre Members advising that the Centre AGM has now been moved to Kineton Sports & Social Club, due to the unavailability of suitable facilities at Stratford Racecourse. Date and Time of the AGM remain unchanged.

11th June

The poor turnout for the Chairman's Rally has resulted in the cancellation of a number of initiatives to raise money for the Centre Charity.

This was very disappointing, but we will still push on towards our target of £500.  Please support your Chairman, Committee and Rally Officers who are running events to raise money.

27th April

Out of the first 6 Rallies this season, 5 have been cancelled through a combination of weather conditions and lack of bookings.

The lack of bookings is now becoming a concern, and the future of the Centre is at stake. Please don't leave it until the last minute to book on to Rallies.  There is a grave danger that Land Owners will not want to book Rallies with us, only to find we are cancelling.

9th April

With the very wet start to the season, we have now had the 1st four Rallies cancelled !

The good news is that Croxall Farm Junior Rally WILL go ahead as planned.

Please don't wait to book into future Rallies, as with smaller numbers attending there are landowners who are reluctant to host small Rallies.

17th February

Hatton Country World Rally, hosted by the Leicestershire Centre, will now open at 2PM on Friday 25th May and not Saturday as previously advertised.

12th February

List of Printed Rally Books currently held by the Centre can also be found on the Rally Books page

5th February

27th January 2018

The Rally Books are here. Please contact Sylvia if you want one sending, or they can be obtained from any Committee Member after 2nd February.

A PDF copy will appear on this site under the Rally Adverts tab in the next couple of weeks.

Funeral arrangements for Tony Wheway are at Nuneaton Crematorium on Wednesday 11th October at 12pm and afterwards at Nuneaton Rugby Club. The family have advised its family flowers only but donations can be made to the Air Ambulance and it is formal dress.

24th September 2017

We have received some sad news this evening from Doreen Wilkie advising the Centre that Tony Wheway, a long standing Centre member and passed Chairman, passed away on Friday at 1pm. Funeral arrangements are to be advised. Once  we receive information about the arrangements we will let you all know.

31st August 2017

Due to the fact that there were no bookings from EWCC Members, we have had to cancel the Green Man Rally.   This may also have a knock on effect for future Rallies at this venue.

The Rally Officer's Meeting will have to be rearranged. Details to follow.

We have had negative feedback from a number of Landowners following cancelled Rallies, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to re-book some venues for the future.

Please do not leave it until the last minute to book. The normal 'cut-off' date is 2 weeks prior to the Rally.

15th June 2017

Congratulations to Chairman Karen Shaw, and Past Chairman Jane Burgoine, who successfully completed their 'Go Ape Challenge' to raise funds for this year's Charity. Don't worry if you didn't get a chance to get onto the Sponsor Form, it's still not too late.

This achievement was even more impressive because Karen has a fear of heights !!!!

22nd April 2017

Bethany Coopey has now joined the Junior Committee,

Both Junior and Senior Committees are still short of Members, so if you want to help don't wait until the AGM, get in touch now and you will be made most welcome

Junior Committee Members Plea

Junior committee numbers are low and we need more centre junior members to join the committee. Please help keep the Junior committee going and encourage your children to join the committee. Lots of adult support will be provided for any new members. Contact Chloe East via centre secretary Sylvia East) if your children are interested.

5th Sep 2016

Rally Officers meeting will be held on September 11th 2016 @ 10am in Bretford Village Hall. Please please please come along and support the centre by volunteering to run a rally next year. After the meeting we will judge the photographic competition for next years rally book cover - this can be of any caravanning related subject , portrait format and 6'x8' minimum. Also we will hold the photographic competition for the Bowmar Trophy - any size or subject.
There will be no caravans present at the village hall as the rally itself is cancelled due to no bookings - HOWEVER WE ARE IN THE HALL - please use the car park as usual and come in and join us!
Many thanks Jackie

4th Sep 2016

The Rally Officers Meeting and Juniors Rally at Bretford next weekend (9 Sep) is at risk of being cancelled as there are NO Centre members booked on yet. There is a minimum charge for using Bretford so unless anyone books on by Monday evening, the rally will be cancelled to avoid the excess charges. If you were planning to drive out to the meeting on Sunday morning, please let us know by contacting any committee member, as we will try to get the village hall for Sunday morning only; it is essential that the meeting takes place to set up next year's programme. If Sunday hire is not possible on its own, then the rally will go ahead as planned despite low numbers.

24th June 2016

Help required...... Did you know that we only have 3 possible committee members for the next years caravan season 2016/17.

This will have serious impacts on the ability to run the centre and serve you as our members.

We are looking for volunteers to join the committee. New or returning volunteers would be gratefully appreciated. New volunteers will receive full support and will be shown how to manage their role.

Please support your centre if you have the time, just speak to any committee member if you are interested. Remember, without a better supported committee the centre is in trouble - it's a simple as that!!

18th May 2016

Help required......Are you interested in supporting the centre. You may not want to join the committee but you can still help keep the centre running.

NEW COMMITTEE 2014 - 2015

At the AGM this year, you returned a smaller than usual Committee, and no Vice Chairman. The Committee is resolved to get everything done, just with less hands. There have already been offers of help from various people and their generosity is appreciated.

The Committee members are:
Chairman - Rob Penny
Secretary - Sylvia East
Treasurer - Karen Shaw
Committee - Nigel Burgoine, Sharron Jacques, Darren Shaw, Paul Tomlinson.

The big thing for the coming year is the Centre's 50th Anniversary Celebration at Kineton Sports & Social Club on Mayday Weekend 2015. Please save this date in your diary - we have lots of entertainment lined up for you, so don't miss it!

21st September 2014

Following the receipt of information that the intended venue for the 2014 AGM is to close, we have been forced to change the venue. The 2014 AGMs will be held at Nether Whitacre Village Hall. There are no changes to the times, but the meeting may start a few minutes later to allow time for members to cross the road from the original venue.

21st September 2014

All nominations for Committee membership must be received by The Secretary by 10am on 28th September. You can download a nomination form from here, or from here for Juniors. All Committee positions are open to receive nominations from eligible Centre members. If any Officer position receives more than one Nomination, a vote will be held at the AGM. Up to 15 Centre members may make up the Committee.

8th June 2014

We're now in a position to confirm the addition of a NEW rally for August Bank Holiday weekend, 2014, at a new venue for a new (to us) event. The Tanks, Trucks and Firepower Show is an annual event near Dunchurch, alongside Draycote Water reservoir, on the Southam/Rugby road. Click here for more information.

3rd June 2014

Sad News received last week.

Mary Morris wife of Selwyn passed away peacefully last Friday (23rd May) afternoon aged 82. Mary & Selwyn were long standing members of EWCC who enjoyed rallying with the Centre for many years.

The funeral is at 10-00am on Friday June 6th at Rainsbrook Crematorium, Ashlawn Road, Rugby, CV22 5ET.

Selwyn has requested no flowers but there is a Charity that contributions can be made to, unfortunately I do not know the name of the Charity but there will be a representative of the Charity at the funeral.

3rd June 2014

There's a new rally which is not in your rally book - it's at Heath End House in Bickenhill, and coincides with the Caravan Club AGM just two miles away at the National Motorcycle Museum. Rally opens on Friday 24th October, closes on Sunday 26th October. No EHU, showers etc. Basic facilities only. Book online.

We still need a rally officer team to help out at this rally. Please contact a Committee member if you can help.

29th April 2014

Joan Rollins, wife of John, has passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long illness. Joan's funeral is on Wednesday 7/5/14 at St John the Divine Church, Willenhall, Coventry at 12 Noon, then at Canley Crematorium, Coventry.

8th April 2014

John Gibson died last Friday, leaving his wife, Jean. John and Jean were frequent ralliers until recently. John served on Committee for several years, as did Jean.

John's funeral will take place at Rainsbrook Crematorium, Ashlawn Road, Rugby, CV22 5ET (to the rear of the St Andrews' Rugby Club ) on 17th April at 11:15.

NO BLACK to be worn, family flowers only. Reception details to be announced.

18th February 2014

Tony Wheatcroft, a long term member of the East Warwickshire Centre, died last week. There will be no funeral, just a cremation  for family only. Tony leaves his wife, Mary.

11th November 2013

Not news, but a reminder to get in touch with Shaun Jacques to book you Panto tickets. It's Robinson Crusoe at The Abbey Theatre in Nuneaton. Everyone is welcome and children who have attended six or more rallies between AGMs 2012-2013 get a free ticket, so call Shaun and claim your gift now!

The rally that weekend is at Higham Lane school, very local for so many members, so come along and enjoy yourselves. There might even be a birthday celebration, although I'm too modest to mention my own 50th...

7th October 2013

I am sad to report the passing of Marc Bowcutt at 4pm today, 7th October. Marc had been ill for some time. The thoughts of his friends, the Committee and members of the EWCC are with his wife Margaret.

Marc was Centre Chairman from 2000 - 2002, and was always a reliable source of help in any matter, with a great love of caravanning and the East Warwickshire Centre, even attending last year's (2012) AGM during his illness.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later, when I have them.

6th August 2013

Following a small re-shuffle in the Committee, Shaun Jacques is looking after sales of equipment, such as Blue & Pink. However, as it's heavy stuff to carry half a dozen bottles of each on the off-chance somebody wants one, Shaun will only bring it out if he knows it will sell. This means you need to get in touch with Shaun before a rally to arrange delivery. It's still better value than the shops.

6th August 2013

The Brailes Village Hall rally in January 2014 has been cancelled and replaced with a Committee-run Children's Party Rally at Etone School in support of a visit to the Pantomime at the Abbey Theatre in Nuneaton, where Robinson Crusoe will be on (oh yes it will). A free ticket is provided for each child who has attended six rallies in the last year. It will be possible to purchase extra tickets for non-eligible children OF ALL AGES! Slips to Hon. Sec. Sylvia East, or book online.

22nd May 2013

It is with sadness that I write of the passing of Brenda Edge, or Ma, as she was affectionately known, on Tuesday 14th May. Brenda lived at the Skegness site "Kantankye" with her husband Brian. She will be missed.

28th April 2013

The welcome banner has gone missing, if you have run a rally since last August Bank Holiday would you please check to see if you have it, and if so please email me at or see me on the rally field.

22nd April 2013

Unfortunately, we have had to change the venue for the 2013 Juniors Rally from Horley Scout Camp to Hampton House Farm, near Kineton. We are sorry for any disappointment this causes to those who wanted to visit the Scout Camp, but I'm sure that the Junior Committee can provide the same level of service wherever the rally is!

11th April 2013

We recently concluded a survey into ralliers habits and preferences to try to gain an insight into what we could do to increase the number of ralliers regularly on the field.

There were 10 online and 4 paper responses, mostly from ralliers who do more than 7 rallies a year.

The "Free & Easy" rally is most popular with "Pub Walk" rallies number 2.

There was no preference towards fields or commercial sites, nor for any particular type of facility, although 3/14 would like EHU.

Cost of site fees is not a problem for most.

When asked if they were happy with the type of rallies, everyone said yes.

A majority feel the reason for decline in numbers id fuel cost.

Somewhat contrary to an earlier answer, there were a few people who would like to see more field games and more variety, whilst getting back to basics.

The question "What one thing would you change?" was answered with suggestions to get some new sites, to keep fees low and to welcome new ralliers more, allowing / welcoming them into already well established groups of friends.

More variety: Thomas East is already looking into this for next year, bringing back a few venues not used for some time along with some new sites.

Fuel Costs & Weather: We're trying but there's not much we can do.

28th May 2012

You may be able to benefit from this if heading north... According to an article in the May edition of the Club's Magazine, members get discounted access to the M6 toll road around Birmingham. Might mean you can spend less time on the road and more time with your feet up!

13th September 2011

A reminder...

Did you know that there is a new Caravan Club service where you can ..."join or renew your centre membership online. You can also check when your centre membership is due for renewal."

The link has changed - this is the new one, below.

Click for more details.

As previously announced, I've moved the videos onto YouTube. The settings allow me to make the videos un-searchable, which means that the videos can only be seen by following a link. Please let me know if you want a video removing.

22nd June 2010

Go to the Videos link from the main index page to read about a new idea of how to expand our video storage capability. (This actually works now.)

10th June 2010

The introduction of the Haslam trophy has led to an increase in the use of cycles on the field, especially by the children.  Some of this has been around caravans, with the attendant risk of injury to the child, and damage to caravans should an accident occur.

Can we please ask parents to ensure that children do not cycle close to the caravan lines.  This is in accordance with Rule 8 of the "Rules and information for rallies", which you will find in your copy of the rally book.

Thank you for your co-operation, it is very much appreciated.

10th June 2010

Do you use towing mirrors?  If you don't you may well be breaking the law.  Towing mirrors are a legal requirement if your caravan is wider than your car, as the law states that when towing a caravan you must have adequate view of the rear of the car and along both sides of your caravan.

When you are towing, your caravan makes it impossible to use your car's rear view mirror, therefore you will need some towing mirrors. Your mirrors for towing must not project more than 200mm beyond the widest part of your car or caravan. Although for any cars sold after 26th January 2007 this is now 250mm.

It is also a legal requirement that any caravan mirror must be type approved and e-marked.
